When we first go into business and entrepreneurship, we're immediately put at a massive disadvantage.
Our minds and our goals never truly align to create powerful momentum that thrusts us closer to our summit.
As humans, we've all experienced different things throughout our lives that may have left a mark on us and our minds.
We all have different beliefs, beliefs that can hold us back from reaching the point of success we want to reach.
Many people who want to be successful often find themselves conflicted with their beliefs around successful people.
Maybe, as a child, you heard your parents talking about how fishy and scammy the rich were.
When we're young, we're like sponges, everything we hear or see becomes part of our identity.
It's difficult to fight against what's right in front of us so we just accept it and take it all as fact.
When we see our parents struggling to make ends meet, we start to believe that this is just how life is for people like us.
We start to believe that we're not part of the minority who have the opportunity to be rich - it's just not how our story goes.
When I initially made the decision to become an entrepreneur, I felt ready to challenge the status quo.
I started my first ever eCommerce business with high hopes and a raging want for success, after all, I had so much I thought I needed to prove.
Following my first business failure, I was immediately reminded that success is not for us.
My limiting beliefs kicked in and for every new business I attempt, it feels like those beliefs are shadowing me, waiting for the chance to pull me back down.
All of this has made me realize one thing - success is not about what you know, or how much you know.
It's not about your skill set or talents.
It's not about any advantage you may have.
Success is all about how well you can tame your mind, shift your beliefs and then claw your way to the top.
Your mindset is your biggest enemy in business. Today we're talking about how to rewire your brain for success in business.
Turn your mind into your greatest asset.
We all have different goals in life.
To reach those goals, it's crucial to learn, adapt, and grow over time to take us closer and closer to those goals.
Asking yourself one simple question will tell you where you need to be to stand a chance at reaching your goals.
"Is who I am today enough to take me to where I want to be?"
There is a distinct difference between who we are now and who we must be before we can fulfill our goals and reach a destination we're proud of.
This is a very simple way to rewire yourself and your mind to be successful in business.
For some people, this is easier than others.
For Elon Musk, for example, this is going to be the most cumbersome burden ever - he is truly trying to revolutionize the world.
Therefore, Elon Musk will have mountains to climb before he's in the peak shape he needs to be to reach the goals he has.
For someone who is just trying to make a steady income and have enough time to do stuff they enjoy, this can very simply be 'having more determination and consistency.'
When I asked my friends this question a few days ago whilst I was taking my break, it made them realize that what they're currently doing is not taking them any closer to where they want to be.
Their current life trajectory is insufficient and incompatible with where they want to go.
They were opening up to me like they've never done to anyone before, telling me how they know they're letting themselves down.
Simply take a few minutes to sit down and ask yourself this question.
In my room, I have a simple A4 card with a stickman in the middle with an afro.
This stickman represents my higher-level self.
It represents the version of me who will be able to start and grow a business(es) from 0 to £100M+ per year.
Around the stickman, there are different words, phrases, and traits that I must embody.
For example, 'wakes up at 6am every day' is something my higher-level self must do.
Another one is 'free of procrastination' or 'takes action immediately/not afraid of risk.'
Once you start to see who you need to be, it becomes much easier to work towards building those traits and mindset qualities necessary for success.
Once you've outlined all these traits, you now need to put together a method, a process you follow every day in order to practice becoming the person you must become.
Taking risks is one of them? Simply do something you're not used to every day.
You don't need to start immediately by going to a casino and betting your life savings - do a simple, somewhat risky task that pushes you outside your comfort zone.
Build good habits
Building the right habits is the fastest way to rewire your brain for success.
If you're someone who inherently dislikes taking risks, building the right habits to take more risks is important.
It's the only way you'll be able to cross that barrier and ascend to the next level.
Similarly, if you think that rich people are corrupt, building the habits to educate yourself daily about wealthy people is a great way to overcome that barrier.
Whatever we do, we do them habitually.
When we wake up, we do it habitually.
When we sleep we do it habitually.
When we eat, go to the toilet, shower, etc, all of that is done habitually.
Therefore, the simplest way to overcome something is to habitually build a way to challenge it.
A while ago I wrote an article about the millionaire habits that will change your life.
If your goal is to become a millionaire and you're facing limiting beliefs that are stopping you from getting there, you may want to give that article a read.
It was a mental barrier I had - why would anyone trust me with their marketing, do I even know what I was really doing?
I've failed at a bunch of things up till now, why is this going to be any different?
My imposter syndrome kicked in with full effect.
The only way to overcome these fears was by practicing the habits that challenged those fears.
I had an outreach plan that I followed every day.
I made sure I watched or listened to success stories of others in my shoes who faced the same challenges and overcame them.
All of this builds momentum and gives you an edge in the future.
When I spoke to one of my friends yesterday, we were talking about goals and in reality, how easy it 'could' be to reach them.
Once I shared my goals with him, he told me that he hasn't seen anyone reach those levels of success before and so he doesn't believe that he can too.
Luckily for us, we have the internet by our side.
The simplest way to find people who have done what you're looking to do is to grow your network.
If you're new to networking, here are some simple steps that can help you network with high-net-worth individuals.
Use social media platforms like LinkedIn to connect with people who are where you want to be.
Build the right relationships and make it a habit to grow your network - this can be one of the best things you invest your time doing.
Repetition & consistency
Once you've reflected on yourself and figured out the gaps you need to bridge to stand a chance at reaching your goals, you've started to build habits in place to challenge those limiting beliefs, you're almost there.
There is only one thing left to do before you can fully overcome your limiting beliefs and rewire your brain for success in business.
It's very easy to do the above steps.
You can spend half an hour self-reflecting, maybe a few days trying to build habits, however, when push comes to shove, it's even easier to just give up.
That's where consistency and repetition come in.
The only way you can make good habits stick, habits that help rewire your brain is by repeating them over and over.
The more you repeat something, the deeper it will be instilled into your identity.
That's what you're looking to do.
It's said that it takes 21 days of work and consistency to build new habits, however, in reality, it takes longer than that.
Building habits isn't the hard part, it's maintaining them that is the challenge.
Warren Buffet once said, "It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it."
This is the same with habits.
You can spend a long time building good habits, but a few days of inconsistency can set you back to the start.
In order to avoid falling into this trap, it's crucial you start small and scale your way up to the top.
You can't expect to go from waking up at 1pm in the afternoon to waking up 6am in the morning the next day.
You need to gradually work your way to those habits.
You can't expect to be afraid of risks one day then buy a Lamborghini the next - you start small and work your way up.
This is the most important part of the whole process of rewiring your brain.
If you're unable to stick to the habits you've created, you'll just feel trapped in your own mind forever.
Read affirmations, declarations, and watch motivational videos to help keep you on the hook.
Have a powerful WHY that guides you in times of hardship.
You have goals to achieve, people to help, and a world to change.
Don't let your own mind shackle your success.
